Depression Anxiety – Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Depression Anxiety – Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Depression and anxiety are both disorders that involves how people feel, behave, and how they react to certain situations in and around them. Though some symptoms of depression and anxiety might seem the same, they are completely two different conditions. Depression is more of disease that requires serious medical and psychological attention, while anxiety on the other hand is more of feelings and emotional response to certain situations and conditions

Anyhow, clinical psychologists have said that those identified as having depression but also show symptoms of anxiety have very serious conditions. Some diagnosis and research have shown that the condition is recognized as mixed depression anxiety disorders.

Mixed depression anxiety manifestation:

Anxious depression, known as mixed depression-anxiety often have more serious signs compared to either anxiety or depression occurring separately. When both depression and anxiety overlap, it usually takes more time to treat because the patient may not respond well to treatment. In any case, tendencies to commit suicide are more common with individuals diagnosed with combination of these symptoms than those who are suffering from depressions alone. Those who suffer from these conditions show both signs of low energy and depression; they also feel worthless, and may sometimes cry for reasons unknown. They do have problems with concentration; and they may gain or lose weight unintentionally. Other signs include: panic attacks, fear, anxiety, irritability, restlessness, muscle tensions and other related conditions.

]]>

Researchers have revealed that mixed depression anxiety disorder is more common with individuals with low income, those who are unemployed, minorities, and uneducated. Hereditary factors of depression is also being looked at by clinicians as some people who suffer from these conditions have family members who also exhibit similar symptoms. Co-morbidity is increased with more severity levels in females as suppose to men as demonstrated by statistics.

Mixed depression anxiety healing:

Drug response to the disorder is being studied by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As indicated by depression anxiety scale, older individuals with anxious depression are less likely to respond to treatments, and are most likely not to continue with their treatments.

Anxious depression cure differs based on how severe the condition is. Those who have severe depression and mild anxiety disorder are often treated with depression related medications like antidepressants. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and psychotherapy are normal depression treatments, which can be used also to treat mixed depression anxiety disorders.

Early support for those who suffer from anxious depression is also advised. Often psychologists will advice family members to attend support group meetings and discussions, to help the entire family fully understand what is going on. The doctor may also ask the patient to make some lifestyle changes such as getting involved in more social activates.g. social interactions, running, walking and other types of exercises.

Depression anxiety is dangerous and serious condition that can happen to anybody who has financial or personal difficulties; both personally and financially. If you find yourself struggling with any of the troubling signs related with any of these conditions, please talk to your physician as soon as possible.

Symptoms Of Anxiety attack-Quit Pretending

Symptoms Of Anxiety attack-Quit Pretending

Most people today, whether in a bustling metropolis or a provincial town might say that stress and anxiety are just a way of life, so isn’t it time you stopped pretending that stress and anxiety “aren’t” my way of life” and admit that you are anxious and stressed; that those symptoms that are “dogging” you just might be symptoms of anxiety attack or stress? As a matter of fact, if you could or would just accept that reality instead of fighting so hard against it, you might even feel some relief. Really, is it natural for a relatively young and otherwise healthy individual to react with such violent trembling, diarrhea and excessive sweating when facing a situation that wouldn’t cause a normal person to “break a sweat”?

Learning to accept and deal with anxiety disorders is much easier to accomplish and is much less strenuous for those who are willing to face the situation, learn all the particulars about the specific disorders, and research the treatments available to find the right one. The news is good because we know for a fact that anxiety disorders can be cured! You are not alone! Reports indicate that 40 million people in this country alone suffer with symptoms of anxiety and stress to the extent that they need treatment.

It is true that the sooner the symptoms of anxiety attack are recognized and addressed, the less damage is done to our bodies, because our bodies, with their built-in response to anything threatening, begin their defense immediately at the first sign of trouble. We can help our bodies in this defense by recognizing the symptoms and identifying their source. While there is no common pattern of symptoms for everyone afflicted or in the throes of becoming afflicted with the symptoms of anxiety attack, there are many easily recognizable symptoms to put you on alert.

]]>

You may have noticed that articles concerning anxiety almost always include the mention of stress, suggesting that they may be the same disorder. But they are not. However, they make up a somewhat vicious cycle of disorder in that it is the inability to handle the symptoms of stress that intensifies the anxiety which in turn, accelerates the stress, which then expedites the anxiety. As this cycle progresses to the point of the individual not being able to manage their reoccurring symptoms of anxiety attack, they must reach the point where they take hasty steps to get the best diagnosis and treatment available!

Now, let’s get back to those easily recognized symptoms and others, not so easily recognized. While there are many forms of anxiety disorders that differ with each individual, there is one dominant symptom of unreasonable, unrelenting non-stop fear and anguish over circumstantial events or surroundings that would ordinarily be of little concern to others. Some symptoms may last as long as an hour or more, others may last just briefly. The major concern of these symptoms of anxiety attack that are happening usually without any obvious reason would be the intensity of each attack and the acceleration of its progress.

If you are convinced that you need to look out for an effective diagnosis and treatment of your anxiety disorder, you will find many anxiety therapists listing the following as the most common major symptoms: unusual sweating, especially around the neck, chest and head; vision disorders, such as tunnel vision, blurry vision; headaches, from dull to severe; nausea, diarrhea, tingling and even numbness in their extremities.

Some anxiety symptoms are labeled as behavioral anxiety symptoms-these include: prolonged and rapid breathing; mental and speech confusion; trembling and nervous or repetitive movements etc; psychological anxiety symptoms including delusional episodes that manifest in paranoia and bizarre conduct. There are times when a person will transfer emotions from one person or object to another. This is called transference. Other symptoms are focusing on the dark, depression and despondency, difficulties with focusing on a thought, inner turmoil and upheaval; these things lead to a total lack of control and inability to function in life.

Because many of these symptoms of anxiety attack can often be confused with physical afflictions such as chest pains, digestive disorders, back conditions, chronic fatigue, head aches, mild and migraine, it will be to your benefit to enlist the services of your family physician in connecting you with the specialist or technician who can specifically diagnose and provide the proper treatment for your disorder. So get real! Get on the right side of treating these symptoms of anxiety attack and get rid of stress and anxiety!

I found a method that is very simple to implement that many be The Answer for you also. You can read about The Answer and how to be rid of Anxiety Attacks forever here:

* Anger* Anxiety* Depression* Irrational fears* Mood swings* Irritability* Frustration* Poor concentration* Confusion* Loss of sense of humour* Negative thoughts* Feeling of overwhelmed* Feeling out of control* Loss of motivation

Tackling stress

There are many strategies that can help you deal with stress:

* Realise that it is ok to be stressed and cut yourself some slack* Try to understand what stresses you and why* Avoid obvious stressful confrontations/situations* Learn to be more assertive* Take regular exercise* Reduce alcohol* Eat a balanced healthy diet* Recognise your limits and learn to say no* Organise your time better* Keep your work/home space organised and tidy* Talk to friends or family* Listen to relaxing music, or read* Take time out to relax

Mind-Killer: The Psychology of Fear

Mind-Killer: The Psychology of Fear

Article by spatty

Less than optimistic philosophers have often noted that the two greatest motivators in history are fear and greed. Now, while the definition of greed can sometimes border on being a philosophical concept affected by culture and environment, fear is much more tangible and universally defined. Yet, despite the nature of it, people have generally been apprehensive about studying the psychology behind fear and the effects it may have on a person’s mental health. Modern psychology, some analysts believe, all too often boils down to fear in some form or another. If this is to be believed, then fear might actually play a bigger role in shaping a person’s psychology than any other intrinsic factors.

Fear, of course, manifests itself in a number of forms. For example, the ancient Spartans were considered fearless because of their fighting abilities but the reality was far different. Raised in an environment where acceptance and embrace of the norm was paramount, the primary fear and anxiety that a Spartan felt was directed towards the idea of being ostracized. A man with a chronic inability to stay in a committed relationship might fear being loved, probably as a side effect of growing up unloved himself. Fear can also manifest as more solid mental health issues such as anxiety and phobias. Fear may also lead to someone developing a variety of psychological disorders as potential complications. The fact is, fear is more prevalent in our daily lives than anyone would care to admit.

In fact, people have a subconscious tendency to deny even the feeling of fear. Most people would prefer to shift their emotions to things like anger or depression, rather than accept their fears. This can be due to a number of factors, including environment, upbringing, and previous experiences. Most experts believe that the key to overcoming this problem is to recognize the fear as fear, rather than defining it as something that it appears similar to. People who have this problem often develop the fears they have during childhood, but rather than outgrow those fears, they have allowed them to remain rooted in their psyche. This may not necessarily damage mental health, but it can have some unwanted effects on how a a person interacts socially.

Of course, not everything about fear should be seen as a negative. It has been said that fear “is what separates heroes from the rest of us.” Fear also helps ensure the survival of the human race. Fear triggers many survival instincs that prevent us or cause us to avoidtaking too many unnecessary risks. Fear also triggers the body to enter survival mode when faced with extreme danger, pumping large amounts of adrenaline into the system to give ordinary humans the near-superhuman physical abilities needed to survive certain situations. Fear prevents people from taking unreasonable risks that could endanger their current status, whether the risk is social, physical, financial, or sexual.

It is only when people fail to acknowledge fear or acknowledge it too much that it becomes a problem. Of course, this is easier said than done. Despite being a natural and integral part of the human psyche and survival instinct, fear is often derided by modern society as something that is unwanted or should be faced down. Literature and culture are filled with references to larger-than-life figures that literally feared nothing and took insane risks, which are things that are well outside the grasp of the average Joe. While there are some fears that are unreasonable and people should make every effort possible to cast them out, it is a good idea to understand that being afraid is not always a negative thing.

About the Author

Among the integral components of the collective human psyche, fear is perhaps the most universal, prevalent, and clearly defined. However, despite the fact that the bulk of psychology can inevitably be traced back to fear, people tend to refuse to acknowledge it or let themselves be ruled by it.

Does Your American Bulldog have Separation Anxiety

Does Your American Bulldog have Separation Anxiety

The Facts on Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is a common problem among dogs. Separation anxiety is when a dog negatively reacts to being left alone. If not managed or treated, severe separation anxiety can cause destructive behavior in your dog. To keep your dog from developing a fear of separation, you can crate train it, so that it will learn how to be independent at times. There are no direct causes of separation anxiety. Most of the time, the fear of separation only develops as the puppy is growing up. Separation anxiety is most common among dogs that are used to being with its owner. Some dogs can also be extremely sensitive, and can develop separation anxiety issues when some changes within the household occur, like when one of the owners move away or goes away for a long time.

Telltale Signs of Separation Anxiety

Sepation anxiety signs center on destructive behavior, heightened during the first few hours after the dog is left alone. Leave a dog with separation anxiety issues alone and it will do any one of the following: barking or making a lot of noise, crying, digging, scratching on doors, urinating or defecating in uncontrolled places, and other abnormal behavior that exhibits distress. A dog suffering from separation anxiety can do much damage to your house and your furniture. If you have no way of knowing if your dog shows such behavior after you leave, try to look for other signs as well. Other separation anxiety signs include the dog’s tendency to remain in your presence when you are home, or frantically jumps on you as soon as you get home. If your dog also seems apprehensive or scared about being outside, or being left in his crate, it may have separation anxiety issues.

]]>

Treat Separation Anxiety

There are different ways to treat separation anxiety. Since the fear of separation occurs differently and in varying degrees from one dog to another, the separation anxiety treatment that your dog needs depends on the severity of the case. One common separation anxiety treatment used by most dog owners is desensitization. This is the act of desensitizing your dog to the idea of being alone. Desensitization is a lengthy process. To administer this, you need time and patience. Take your dog repeatedly through the process of you leaving the house until its responses becomes calmer. When you feel that your dog is ready, start practicing his independence through short absences first then lengthening it as time passes. Desensitization can be a very challenging process at first, but as your dog warms up to the idea of being left alone, you will be able to manage its separation anxiety better. For dogs that show extremely destructive responses to separation, consult your veterinarian for drugs that can treat separation anxiety.
